With an excellent location, everything you need to be comfortable, and a kind and helpful host like Nuno, I give this listing my highest recommendation.
The walk to the ocean is about 5 minutes, where you can also find a large grocery store. You can walk to Funchal city center in 25 minutes, or to Formosa Beach in about the same time in the other direction. Public transit is also easily accessible.
As this was not my first time in Funchal I can appreciate just how great my stay here was. I hope to stay in this flat again in the future!

I think this is one of the best areas of Funchal for longer stays. It's close to everything in Funchal you need.

There are several very nice cafes with patios overlooking the ocean if you simply walk down to the water, 5 minutes away.
